Modern gardening machines, including Atco lawnmowers, are not what they used to be. Maintenance for modern machines is now a simple affair and, we have to admit, many modern consumers of petrol lawnmowers untertake very little maintenance at all - other than refilling the petrol tank and checking the oil level from time to time. However, having invested in your high-quality Atco lawnmower, we believe it is worth taking the extra time every now and again to make sure it continues to work to perfection. Atco is an absolute classic British lawnmower brand - if you wish to buy a cylinder mower, then these lawnmowers are very best you can buy. These are the types of machines that will last generations if looked after properly, and there are many mowers bought in the 1950s and 60s that are still going strong.

Product Care and Maintenance

1. Clean product after use and lightly oil any accessible moving parts i.e. blade on a lawnmower. This will ensure the product is in good working order the next time it is used.

2. After the cutting season is over give the product a good clean: – Remove dried grass from the blades and decks of mowers. Oil the blades. Check and replace damaged electrical cables.

3. Winter storage: Drain petrol from lawnmower to prevent sludging. Periodically circulate oil through a petrol engine by a few pulls on the pull starting rope (with spark plug removed). Mower batteries should be fully charged and stored upright in a cool environment. Periodically give the battery a top up charge.

4. Prior to first cut of the season check for any visible problems i.e. leaking petrol tanks or damaged cables. Winter is the ideal time to service your equipment. If you need to employ the services of an Atco Authorised Service Agent, we will be able to help.

5. Getting your cutting blades sharpened. The QX™ cassette system makes this easy because you don't have to transport the lawnmower anywhere - you just remove the cassette. If you need assistance, we can have your blades sharpened by mailorder.

6. Refer to your mower's instruction manual for full details of care and maintenance.
